MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF INLA           

This Congress will be the 18^th in a series of biennial meetings that began in 1973. It is now unquestionably the leading international conference for specialists in nuclear law. An attractive programme is being organized with the support of INLA members and it will deal with the latest developments in this field as well as look ahead to the future.

Brussels, capital of Europe, with its many cultural attractions and its tradition for hospitality, will serve as the backdrop to this important gathering.

INLA

The purpose of the International Nuclear Law Association, which was created in 1972, is to promote the study of legal issues associated with the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and to encourage the exchange of information in this field.

Every two years, it organizes a Congress called “Nuclear Inter Jura” in which worldwide nuclear lawyers participate.

INLA membership numbers approximately 500 persons.

NUCLEAR INTER JURA 2007

The next INLA Congress will take place in Brussels from Monday 1 to Thursday 4 October 2007, followed by a technical visit organized on Friday 5 October.

The following topics will be addressed during the meeting:

·        Nuclear safety and regulation

·        Radiological protection

·        Radioactive waste management and decommissioning

·        Transport of nuclear material

·        Radioactive sources management

·        Nuclear liability and insurance

·        International nuclear trade

·        Non-proliferation

·        Nuclear security

·        Nuclear energy and environmental protection

·        European Union nuclear legislation

CALL FOR PAPERS

Authors are invited to submit an abstract of their proposed paper before 15 January 2007. Abstracts should be sent by e-mail to the INLA Secretariat: brigitte@aidn-inla.be. The preferred format is MS Word.

The abstract should include:

1)      The title of the proposed paper

2)      The full name(s) of the author(s), title, professional affiliation, e-mail address(es)

3)      One page maximum summarizing the content of the proposed paper

Authors will be informed of the decision regarding acceptance of their papers by 30 April 2007 at the latest.

Finalised papers shall need to be sent to the above address by 31 July 2007.

PROCEEDINGS

A high quality legal publisher will be entrusted with editing the proceedings of the Congress, which will be made available to all participants.

LANGUAGE

The languages used during the congress will be English and French, with simultaneous translation.

HOTEL RESERVATION

A number of rooms in various hotels in Brussels will be booked at preferential rates. Detailed information will be provided in the second announcement.

MESSAGE DU PRESIDENT DE L’AIDN

Ce Congrès sera le 18^ième d’une série de conférences biennales qui a débuté en 1973. Celles-ci sont incontestablement devenues le principal rendez-vous international des spécialistes du droit nucléaire. Nous nous efforçons, avec le concours des membres de l’Association, de préparer un programme attractif permettant de faire le point sur les développements récents de cette discipline et de jeter un regard sur l’avenir.

Bruxelles, capitale de l’Europe, avec son riche patrimoine culturel et sa réputation d’hospitalité, sera le cadre de cette importante manifestation.

AIDN

L’Association internationale du droit nucléaire, qui a été créée en 1972, s’est fixé pour but d’encourager l’étude des aspects juridiques de l’utilisation pacifique de l’énergie nucléaire, ainsi que de favoriser les échanges d’information dans ce domaine.

Tous les deux ans, elle tient un congrès sous le nom de “Nuclear Inter Jura”, auquel est conviée la communauté des juristes nucléaires du monde entier.
L’AIDN compte environ 500 membres.

Le prochain congrès de l’AIDN se déroulera à Bruxelles du lundi 1 au jeudi 4 octobre 2007, une visite technique sera organisée le vendredi 5 octobre.

APPEL AUX CONTRIBUTIONS

Les auteurs sont invites à soumettre leurs propositions de rapports avant le 15 janvier 2007. Celles-ci seront envoyées par courrier électronique au Secrétariat de l’AIDN, à l’adresse suivante: brigitte@aidn-inla.be, de préférence sous format MS Word.

Il conviendra de préciser :

1)      Le titre du rapport

2)      Les noms complets, titres et qualités du/des auteur(s), et adresse(s) e-mail

3)      Un résumé d’une page maximum du contenu du rapport proposé

Les auteurs seront informés de la décision concernant leurs propositions avant le 30 avril 2007.

Les rapports devront être envoyés à l’adresse indiquée ci-dessus, selon le format demandé, avant le 31 juillet 2007.

ACTES

Les actes du Congrès seront confiés pour publication à une maison d’édition juridique de haut niveau et mis à disposition de tous les participants.

LANGUES

Les langues utilisées au cours du Congrès seront l’anglais et le français, avec traduction simultanée.

RESERVATION D’HOTELS

Un nombre suffisant de chambres sera réservé dans divers hôtels de Bruxelles, à des tarifs préférentiels. Des informations détaillées à ce sujet seront communiquées dans la seconde annonce.
